Established in 1999 by the Nitte Education Trust, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) is a distinguished medical institution located in Deralakatte, Mangalore, Karnataka. It is a constituent college of NITTE (Deemed to be University), which is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with an ‘A+’ grade by NAAC. The academy is named after Justice K.S. Hegde, a former speaker of the Lok Sabha and a visionary in the field of education. Diverse Academic Programs
KSHEMA offers the MBBS program with a duration of 5.5 years (including a one-year rotating internship), with an annual intake of 150 students. The curriculum integrates basic science learning with early clinical exposure and community-oriented training. At the postgraduate level, KSHEMA offers MD and MS programs in core specialties such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Anesthesiology, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
